Why You Must Eat Healthy In The 3rd Trimester
The foods that we eat affect our health as well as our energy levels, concentration, and physical characteristics. Certainly, foods that pregnant women eat are no different. However, eating is a completely different ball game for pregnant women because not only are they eating for themselves, but for their babies too. The food selections that a pregnant woman makes impact her baby’s health and development including brain development, personality, tastes, weight, organ development and overall long term health. For these reasons, it is crucial that pregnant women maintain a healthy diet during pregnancy. Eating properly is the best birthday gift a mother can give to her baby.
During pregnancy, the mother’s energy and nutrients are passed to her baby in the uterus. Typically, a mother’s normal diet will usually provide enough raw materials. It should not be surprising that the baby’s tastes will be based on the foods they receive when they are developing in the womb.
While it is important to eat healthy in all of the trimesters, it is perhaps most important to sustain a healthy diet during the third. A baby’s brain is the one of the last organs to develop and is certainly one of the most important. It is important that pregnant woman do not scale back their diets in the third trimester in attempts to lose weight. Pregnant women should continue eating healthy to sustain the baby’s development, even if a healthy diet and lifestyle was not being practiced during the first two.
While there is a lot more to learn about the foods pregnant mothers should eat, we hope that this serves as a foundation for healthy eating. Stay tuned to learn about which foods are healthy and which are harmful.
