Farmers Market
There is something to be said about shopping at the local farmers market. The fresh, locally grown produce, bright colors and friendly staff. We found a market a few miles down the road and have made it a weekend family ritual. I make the list of fruits and veggies I’ll need for the week. Some for snacking and the rest for dinners and recipes.
Ryann gets absolutely giddy as we drive up, because she knows she’ll have the freedom to roam around, pointing and practicing.
“T-o-m-a-t-o, my husband spells, the tomato is red.”
Ryann is offered a baby banana, it was the smallest {yet ripe and ready to eat} banana I’ve ever seen. I pulled back the peel and handed it over. With stuffed cheeks, she continued pointing.
“Green pepper, mommy is picking a green pepper.”
Ryann watches as the woman weigh our produce and put it into bags. We thank her for the baby banana and head home.
And then the peeling and cutting begins…because we just can’t get enough of the crisp apples, juicy tomatoes, and green peppers. You definitely don’t get that type of experience from a grocery store.
What are some routine activities that have turned into family favorites?
