Spring Training

It’s no surprise that we’re big Boston Red Sox fans, since I was born and raised there.  I have convinced my husband it’s the best team and our kids will know no other team.  It’s really hard to get to games since we’re in Florida {for now}; but thankfully we’re only a short drive from their spring training field.  And better than seeing the Red Sox playing close to home?  Saving a ton of money seeing them here, rather than paying full price at Fenway.  Although, as a side note if you’re ever in Boston you must tour Fenway, it surely is a fantastic attraction in Boston.  And the local restaurants are tasty too! Ok, but back to watching the Sox in Florida…

Last year I surprised my husband with tickets to a game, six month old daughter in tow. It was a fun experience, but stressful with a baby.  This year he turned the surprise around on me and we headed down to Ft. Myers for an afternoon game.  This year with less “stuff” and our baby toddler.  It was a fantastic afternoon.  We relaxed on a blanket on the lawn “seats”.   Ryann leaned over the wall to cheer for our beloved Sox.   She attempted the wave and noshed on baseball park snacks.  It was the most relaxed fun I’ve had in a while.  Because most family activities involve a  lot of movement, running and chasing a toddler is rarely relaxing.   We’re hoping to make these games a yearly tradition, as long as we’re living in the Sunshine State.

Do you enjoy baseball?  Have you found an affordable way to take your kids to a game?  I’m so glad that we have the benefit of warm winters to enjoy our favorite New England team.
