Overweight Men At Higher Risk For Infertility
if (is_single()) { ?>
} ?>We love when we come across information about things males can do to increase their fertility. So many men think that the women are the only ones who have to change their habits. Well think again men! Studies show that men who are overweight are more likely to have fertility issues. Specifically, excess fat in men converts testosterone into the female hormone estrogen. This can cause lots of issues, including lowering sperm quality and overall sperm count. And yikes, obese men are more likely to have erectile dysfunction.
Obviously, when trying to conceive, you want both yourself and your partner to be in optimal health. Men who could stand to lose a few should try to do it the old fashioned way by eating a healthy diet and getting in some exercise. If your guy has more than a few to lose, make sure he checks with his doctor for some help. If your guy is severely overweight and has considered something like gastric bypass surgery, you should know that the research so far has shown that the significant weight loss can actually improve fertility for obese men (and women!). This is obviously something that should be taken very seriously, so make sure to discuss this, and any weight loss plan with your doctor!
