Autism Vaccine Link Rejected By Courts

VaccineFriday, an appeals court upheld a ruling that autism is not caused by vaccines.  Years ago, scientists came to the same conclusion that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld after a special vaccine court made a decision on last year.  However, 5,500 families still fought for compensation through the government’s Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.

The ruling Friday came in the case of Michelle Cedillo of AZ, who her parents blame a measles vaccine at 15 months  for disabling her with autism, inflammatory bowel disease and other disorders.

The appeals panel said Friday in its ruling,  “we have carefully reviewed the decision of the special master and we find that it is rationally supported by the evidence, well-articulated, and reasonable. We, therefore, affirm the denial of the Cedillos’ petition for compensation.”

These decisions can help reassure parents that it’s safe to vaccinate their children against diseases that are on the rise.
