Making a list of the things you need for each child will not only help you prioritize, but will also keep things in perspective. If you keep with your list, you wont be as tempted to buy all those extras. So lists can keep you organized, and can save you money!
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and your back to school shopping may take longer than a day as well. If you can’t get it all done, relax. Use your list to prioritize, and then plan a time to finish the job.
Let your child drive the cart. They will be more entertained and you will be able to focus. Just make sure to keep one hand on the cart in case you need to slow or stop. Create a game with your kid – like I spy or a rhyming game. For younger children, plan your shopping during nap time so your tot can sleep in the stroller while you check things off your list.
Kids get grumpy when they’re hungry, and this could cut your shopping trip short. Make sure you leave the house prepared with a healthy, neat snack, like fruit or ants on a log. Pack what you can in non-spill containers so that you don’t have to worry about cleanup.
There are deals to be had. The economy is soft and retailers are pulling out all the stops to command your dollars. Doing your research, looking for specials (they’re everywhere!) and cutting out the coupons will all help you protect the wallet.
