The Britax Advocate CS Car Seat is a convertible, rear facing seat up to 35 pounds, and then forward facing from at least one year old and 20 pounds up to 65 pounds. We love convertible seats because they save you money, not to mention that the Advocate has a higher weight limit than many other car seats. In other words, instead of buying separate seats for each configuration, you can use one seat and have it for longer, making it a practical and economical choice.
Whenever we review a car seat, our concern first and foremost is safety, and this seat delivers just that. It has side impact cushion technology which reduces the energy of side impact crashes by 50%. This is great, because it diverts the force of a crash away from the child. This seat is on the bigger side, and that means that it does a great job at containing your baby’s head and body, and minimizes side to side head movement in a collision. The deep side walls of the seat are made with energy-absorbing foam. Of course, it features an adjustable five-point harness. It also has an adjustable head restraint which not only makes the seat more comfortable for your little one, it also provides even more protection from impacts.
This seat is not only super-safe, it is also very comfortable and stylish. It comes in a bunch of colors, and it also is designed for comfort. It has Britax’s patented Harness Ultra Guard System (HUGS) which offers cushioning for your child’s neck and chest while at the same time limiting forward head movement in crashes. The foam seat is very well padded, so this is a great seat for longer trips. The cover is washable, so it’s easy to keep clean.
The Advocate has a premium LATCH system so the installation is easy and secure. It releases by pushing a button. Installation should not take you any longer than 15 minutes.
The only real drawback with this seat is its bulk. The side panels make this seat larger than some other seats, so this may not be the best seat for use in smaller vehicles. Additionally, because of it’s size, it is not the best option if you are going to be frequently switching it from car to car.
